Sheltering in Love grant campaign receives nearly $2 million in donations; expedited grant awards given to nonprofits in 43 countries and 43 states.

As a federal moratorium that protected an estimated 12 million people from eviction expires, two United Methodist agencies, Restore Hope Ministries in Oklahoma and Good Neighbor Settlement House in Texas, have used UMCOR COVID-19 grants to keep people from being evicted and assist them when they have nowhere else to go but the streets.

As grant requests continue to pour in from the U.S. and around the world, UMCOR has awarded $966,069 in grants in four weeks. Global Ministries has supplemented those funds, bringing the total amount of COVID-19 assistance to $1.3 million.

Global Ministries is offering grants to annual conferences to stand in solidarity with those who are voicing their opposition to racial injustice, as well as stand in the gap for communities that have been adversely affected by acts such as rioting and looting.

Mission makes an impact as partners around the world are awarded funds to address issues intensified by the spread of the coronavirus.

The temporary hold placed on approved grants in March has been lifted, allowing more than $29 million to be released over the remaining months of the year.

Given the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on revenue sources and cash flow, Global Ministries and UMCOR have placed temporary holds on most grant payments.

Grants totaling $853,301 will help build the capacities of United Methodist mission partner organizations around the world next year in the areas of Leadership Development, Congregational Development, Ministry with the Poor and Global Health.

This overview of UMCOR’s global migration work includes places of welcome, food for body and spirit, education, legal help and many more ways that United Methodists support migrants around the world.

Since 2017, more than $8 million has been given and 46 facilities have been renovated, increasing the standard of care in rural communities.

One hundred six students from 31 countries will receive study grants totaling $585,817 for the 2019-20 academic year from Global Ministries.
