As the war in Ukraine escalates, UMCOR engages with more partners inside and outside Ukraine to care for war-weary people whose lives have been disrupted and overburdened with loss. Since July, more than $14 million in new grants have been approved to continue United Methodist war relief through UMCOR.

$2 million grant will fund site surveys, demining efforts and citizen education.

Fifty-four missionaries were commissioned for service in nine different worship events taking place around the world from April to July. Some begin service in new placements while others continue with work they began during the pandemic.

UMCOR supports United Methodists in Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Czechia and Estonia as they welcome refugees from Ukraine into their homes and houses of worship.

In addition to supporting refugees from Ukraine seeking safety in neighboring countries, the generosity of thousands of United Methodists has made it possible for UMCOR to support relief work inside Ukraine, working alongside European United Methodists, Ukrainian Methodists, ecumenical relief operations and interfaith humanitarian missions.

In addition to the approved grants, directors allocate $9 million more from unrestricted funds for four areas of work in 2022-2023 and ratify an additional $3.8 million in previously released emergency grants.

Nearly $1 million of essential medical supplies and equipment sent to Ukraine thanks to a joint effort by UMCOR, the Arlene Campbell Humanitarian Foundation and Ohio Health.

United Methodists are finding various ways to raise funds for UMCOR in support of those displaced by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Funds are providing food, water, medicine, shelter and transportation to Ukrainians and other refugees.
