Educating women, children and youth to improve leadership, literacy and develop job skills

Annual Goal: $7,000.00

Year to Date Gifts: $100.00

Describe the need affecting community

Many of our women and youth lack leadership skills and education. There is a need to help the women, youth and children to be able to access opportunities for leadership, literacy and job skills development. Some of our church members are not able to write their names. In Laos, more women are not able to continue school. Many young people in the provinces are not able to finish school, because most of them have to help in the farming, and while waiting for the harvest, they are hardly able to find jobs because they lack job skills. Moreover, those who try to find work in the city and/or the country borders face underemployment, forced labor, human trafficking, or risky working environments. Therefore, the children need assistance for their school registration and basic school supplies.

How will this Advance project help to address the need?

The project would help the women, youth and children access leadership and education opportunities.

Describe the primary goal of the project

Primary Goal: *To empower the women, youth and children through leadership, education, literacy, and job skills training. *To enable our members to be able to read the bible and other resources to help their holistic growth and development.

Describe the change you would like to see in the community as a result of this Advance project

We would like to achieve the following: 1. Enable youth to take leadership roles in the church. 2. For our members to be able to be good readers of the bible, hymnbooks, and other resources that could enhance their growth. 3. Support at least two (2) youth, at least one should be a woman, in their studies and/or skills training. 4. We would have at least five (5), at least three (3) young ladies, high school students who can pursue high school. 5. We would have about 100-300 primary children, where we have Methodist congregations. Who could go to school with either basic registration and/or basic school supplies. 6. Some congregations could set up a literacy class.
